Last knockings for the prey ……….

This is the view of the last thing the prey sees when confronted by our old friend, Esox Lucius. An imposing site for the prey but the result is fatal. Oh how I wish I had a camera on the fly it would be great to see the moment the Pike strikes. The hand by the way is between the first gill raker and the gill cover. I have not used a net for Pike for over 10 years and have not suffered any bad wounds, just small lacerations that bled all day due to the anticoagulant present from the pike.

Looking forward to the new season with much anticipation especially with a new friend (who has already dressed a number of Pike flies)  to introduce to Pike on the fly, my that will be good, the anticipation is not letting me down !!!
