Pitsford-25lb

Having fished all over the world for different species of fish, my heart always returns to the capture of the UK’s apex predator, Esox lucius, the Pike on fine spinning tackle. On a recent trip to Pitsford reservoir in search for Pike, the only success of the day was the fish shown above. and what a beauty. !! It is the finest fish I have ever had the pleasure to catch bar none !!. On a small 7ft spinning rod (sadly not using one of my ABU Ambassadeurs), and and using a small shallow diving Rapala I couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome, she was magnificent 25lb Portmanteau in prime condition.

Warm regards

Paul

  1. Hi Paul

That is a cracking fish on light tackle.

I bet that took a while to come in.

I was on the Don for Salmon with Ben a couple of weeks ago, we both had 1 on the bank and also lost one each.

It was a very wet day but great to be out with Ben on the river.

10’#7 Helios 1 performed well with a Rio Short Spey Head.

If you are at home this weekend, I will ring you to catch up.

I hope all is good at home.

    Kind regards

    Kevin.
